Surrealism Project

Shirt design for Surrealism theme, inspired by 1950's Pop Art postcard I collected at the exhibit. It was originally a large men's George shirt which I then cut and manipulated into a women's dress.

We were only allowed to use shirt materials such as collars, cuffs etc and limited colour palette was crucial.

This is a skirt I created from scratch following our Surrealism theme.
I originally made a basic short skirt and inserted darts where I felt appropriate. I then created petal shapes from the same thick black fabric as the skirt and fed wire through them after overlocking the seams.
I then hand sewed various embellishment onto the skirt to create the effect of "dew drops" and then attached stemem (pollen ducts) to the skirt so that it gave the overall look of a flower.
